Apartments and rain

Hello again.
As everyone pretty much knows by now, the blog doesn't receive any attention when I'm stateside. Thus, since this is a new post, you can use logical deduction to figure out where I am now. I'm enjoying my new apartment in Boa'an, China.
'What's this,' you say? Yes, this is a new development. I've now got an apartment. And, it's pretty much awesome. It certainly is a change from the staying in the hotel as I had in times past. There are benefits to being in the hotel, but I think the benefits of the apartment out way that of the hotel.
For one, I don't have room service or access to any of the hotel's convenient restaurants. But, I now have much more room and it feels a lot more like home. Also, this used to be Paul's apartment. Paul, being the awesome guy that he is, left a bunch of cool things like a mountain bike and a speaker system for me. Thanks Paul!
I do miss the ease and convenience of waking up in the hotel and going down to the second floor for the buffet style breakfast. That was pretty delicious. Now, I have a kitchen and I'm responsible for my own meals.

One of my favorite things about the apartment is the bedroom, with its huge bay window that has a great view of the city. Now, Boa'an hardly has a skyline to rival New York, or even Philly but, it's still a welcome addition to my life.

My kitchen in china is maybe 3 times the size of mine in the US! ha ha.

My living room. That couch is so comfortable!

While it might merit a whole other post, I'll just do it now, because it seems like I can never really get more than one post in per week. All of ShenZhen has been experiencing torrential rains. Typhoons have been hitting up and down the coast, causing knee high flooding in some areas. When it rains, it comes down hard. Myself and Steve had a trip to Beijing tentatively scheduled for this weekend but because of all the rain we had to cancel it. Flights were being canceled all over the place. We didn't want to be stranded in Beijing and not be able to get back for work on Monday. We ended up getting out of work a couple of times because of the flooding. I'm thankful I got that waterproof camera now. ha ha.

The picture looks wavy because of the rain sheeting down the window.

Crossing the street was fording a stream.

Bicycle with two umbrellas to keep the rain out; one in front, one on top.
